What this tour is about: This is a private tour to Pushkar, customised to your interests. Pushkar is a sacred spot for Hindus; and Pushkar lake is the site of a temple dedicated to the God Brahma (one of the very few in India). It is said that one of Brahma’s lotus petals fell to the earth at Pushkar, and a lake sprang into being. A dip in the waters of Pushkar and worship at the Brahma temple ensures salvation.
Each year there is a Camel Fair for two weeks in November, where traders come from the countryside to buy and sell camels. There is also a religious festival at the time, as well as a fairground with contests. If you are visiting during the Camel Fair, then you can spend time at the fair activities, as well as the lakeside ghats and temples, before returning to Jaipur. If you are making this trip at other times of the year, you can visit nearby Ajmer or the block printing town of Bagru.
